The Old Weathered Shed And The Blue Agave Cactus – Infrared

I photographed this building and cactus while taking my converted infrared camera for a walk. The shed was in the shade, but the cactus and trees were getting direct sunlight, which contributes to the high contrast look that I like.
I used a Nikon 18-200 mm lens with a polarizer for this image, and it gives a slightly different color cast to an image than without the polarizer. On the same day I took a bunch of IR images at Santee Lakes – some with a polarizer on the 18-200 mm lens, and some with an 11-16mm Tokina wider angle lens without a polarizer. The color looks a little different due to the polarizer.
I’ve been taking infrared photographs for at least 12 years, with a total of 3 different cameras. If you like this look, I have an album of infrared photographs, creatively named Infrared.
