2005-12-30 Natural History Museum Diplodocus

26 metre-long (83 feet) Diplodocus (D. carnegii) cast was a gift to the British Natural History Museum (formerly part of the British Museum) from Edward VII in May 1905 and dominates the main hall and entrance. Parts were replaced/repaired in 2004.

Diplodocus is one of the more famous dinosaur species, in part for the popular fossil skeletons (/casts) which can be seen here and in many other museums worldwide. They lived 147-150 million years ago in what is now the NW Americas .

Taken with a Pentax Optio S.

Texas State History Museum

The "Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum" in Austin, Texas. This is a single exposure taken using a Sigma 10-20mm lens. Although I used Photomatix in the processing of the RAW file, it’s not an HDR and is intended to look natural. The post-processing here did very little other than to pull out a bit of texture in the star that was lost in the JPEG version.
