The design for the Japanese Garden was conceived in 1970, construction started in 1971 and it was completed in 1974. It represents a gentle, horticultural gesture of sister ship between two sister cities, Buffalo and Kanazawa, Japan. Located on 6 acres along Delaware Park’s Mirror Lake, the original design contained over 1,000 plantings, nearly 20 globe-type lights, three small islands connected to the mainland by bridges.

Taken at the Butterfly Alive exhibit at the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History www.sbnature.org/exhibits/butterflies/. Most of the butterflies in Butterfly Pavilion are native to the state of Florida, with a few exceptions. You can walk through the Pavilion experiencing the butterflies as they land on nearby Florida native flowers and if you stand still they will take rest on you. Taken with Canon 1D Mark III w/300mm f/2.8 L IS + 25mm +12mm extension tubes.

This was a few stops underexposed so I used the Adjustment Brush in Adobe ACR 5.3 to brush in back lit effects as well as adding color to the flower and accents to the pedals.
